One of the best success stories in the tradition of popular books in the series are the Readers Digest condensed books, also known as readers Digest select editions. This anthology books are available through subscription on a monthly basis, bi. Each volume contains three to five books that have been classified best seller. Titles are usually novels, and are chosen by readers Digest editors. The books are condensed carefully, keeping the spirit of the book, so that essential loses nothing goes.

Famous series began in the 1950s. People are seeking a better future after years of strict World War II, and read many famous novels of the day wanted to. Money was still tight for many people, and Readers Digest condensed books were affordable and good value. Early titles include the wooden horse from Eric Williams, the Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk and cruel sea by Nicholas Monsarrat.

The volume has always been a blend of classical and contemporary stories, thrillers, romance, adventure and comedy. Diversity has always been the key to Readers Digest condensed books and titles in the 1960s, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, happy Goodbye Mr. chips, James Hilton, was to kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and the spy who came in from the cold by John Le Carré.
